The Houston Martial Arts Academy (“HMAA”) was established in Houston, Texas in 2001. The Houston Martial Arts Academy strives to offer the highest quality in martial arts and self-defense training catering to professionals and executives living and working in the Downtown Houston area. We are constantly training and testing our material so that we can provide HMAA members with the best self-defense instruction available today. We offer 2 FREE INTRODUCTORY CLASSES with NO OBLIGATION and NO CONTRACTS-just pay as you train. TRAINING SCHEDULE We are currently offering Street-Based Mixed Martial Arts, Isshinryu Karate and Filipino Martial Arts classes at the Downtown Club at Houston Center on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. MIXED MARTIAL ARTS (MMA) FOR THE STREET HMAA’s street-based MMA curriculum is currently offered at the Downtown Club on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 9:45 until 10:40 a.m. HMAA’s street-based MMA classes focus on a mixture of techniques and training methods from Western Boxing, Thai Boxing, Okinawan Isshinryu Karate, Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, grappling, wrestling, judo, kung fu, kickboxing, ground fighting, JKD concepts and Filipino Martial Arts. HMAA’s street-based MMA classes include stretching, strengthening and conditioning exercises, along with blocking, striking and kicking exercises, partner drills, bag drills, pad drills, self-defense techniques, and/or free fighting. Every session is unique and is individually tailored to the members attending that day. FEE SCHEDULE* (effective November 1, 2004) II. FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS (FMA) TRAINING HMAA’s Filipino Martial Arts classes are currently offered at the Downtown Club on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The Filipino Martial Arts is a weapon-based, but ultimately, empty hand system. HMAA’s Filipino Martial Arts classes focus on a mixture of single stick (and blade), double stick (and blade), espada y daga, knife, double knife, short staff (pinga), long staff and empty hand drills. Every session is unique and is individually tailored to the members attending that day. FEE SCHEDULE* (effective November 1, 2004) III. OKINAWAN ISSHINRYU KARATE HMAA’s Okinawan Isshinryu Karate curriculum is currently offered at the Downtown Club on Saturday mornings from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. HMAA’s Okinawan Isshinryu Karate classes focus on a techniques and training methods from Okinawan Isshinryu Karate. Classes include stretching, strengthening and conditioning exercises, along with blocking, striking and kicking exercises, partner drills, bag drills, pad drills, self-defense techniques, forms and/or free fighting. Every session is unique and is individually tailored to the members attending that day. FEE SCHEDULE* (effective November 1, 2004) IV. WOMENS ATTACK PREVENTION (8 hour course) We offer Women’s Attack Prevention Courses in 2-hour blocks for individuals and groups. If its more convenient, we can hold a seminar at your chosen location.
